Our project is called ‘Wave of Change Project’. This project is about our group of 14 people going to Bagan Lalang beach and clean the area from trash and make sure the environment is in a great condition. There are 3 stages in this project which are the planning/preparation before project day, during the project day and after the project finished.

Planning/preparation stage

Before we decided to do the ‘Wave of Change Project’, we were actually considering other project like going to secondary school in KL area to held event about civil engineering with the main focus was to give exposure to the secondary school student about the civil engineering field. But after further discussion with all the other group members, we decided to proceed with the the ‘Wave of Change Project’, which basically about us going to Bagan Lalang beach and clean the area. So to continue the project, we discuss about many things like the budget, because we need to buy some equipment for cleaning, Firdaus, Janting and Faiz were tasked to buy equipments like plastic bags, gloves and they also buy mineral water for all the group members. We also allocate some money as the fuel cost as we go there with 3 cars that were drove by Linggesh, Jinn Renn and Darwish. After that, we also discuss the tentative on the project day in order to make everything goes smoothly.

Project Day

Its 7.30 am and some of our group members were already here. The gathering time was 8 am and the plan was to immediately depart as soon as everyone was there. But some of us was a bit late, resulting in a bit of delay in our tentative. Luckily, everyone gathered safely and we departed around 8.30 in the morning. It took us around one and a half hour to arrive at Bagan Lalang beach and we were a bit confused about where the rendezvous point as we haven’t decided on it yet. But eventually we managed to gather and after a short briefing, we started to clean the beach.

As for our project requirements, we did an interview with several beach visitors who went there with their family to have a good leisure time. We asked about the beach and condition and how were their experience there. The purpose of this interview was to give us a clearer image about how was the beach condition and we also know how our project impacted the beach condition and all the community there. We were welcomed warmly as we wanted to make sure that the beach is clean and this also make the visitors feel more happy and comfortable.

Next, we recycle the trashes that we have collected by putting them in the recycle bin. But before that, we sort all of the trashes into different categories as the recycle bin require.

After that, we went to a small musolla to clean there as well. So we go there and began cleaning by sweeping the floor, wipe the window, fold all the unorganized sejadah. We also tidy up the book on the shelves by arranging them.

After finished all that, we had lunch together and before going back to UM after a long day.

After the project day

Our beach cleaning initiative served as a compelling illustration of how each person possesses the ability to bring about significant change. It imparted the lesson that even modest actions, carried out with purpose and unity, can yield a profound influence. By embracing diversity, honoring differing perspectives, and collaborating towards a common objective, we established environments that nurtured a sense of belonging, tranquility, and concord. We witnessed the transformative power of our collective endeavors, encompassing beach cleaning, community engagement, and tidying the prayer room. Through this project, we comprehended that by uniting with a shared mission, we can transcend personal limitations and generate a positive impact within our communities and within ourselves. It served as a reminder that every individual possesses the capacity to contribute towards a better future, and by nurturing this potential, we can inspire others to join us on the journey towards a more inclusive and sustainable world.
